Southampton City Council short listed for sought-after CIPS Procurement Award

Southampton City Council has been short listed for the Best Public Procurement Project Award in the 2010 Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Awards.

29/06/2010

Capita Procurement Services, part of Capita Local Government Services, has been delivering an externally-managed procurement service – on all procurements over £100, 000, excluding property services – to Southampton since it began its 10-year strategic services partnership with Capita in October 2007.

The Capita Procurement Team was set the target of releasing significant cashable savings to the Council over the 10-year partnership and in less than three years it has already achieved savings sign-off of £17 million.

The CIPS Supply Management Awards were established to celebrate and reward excellence in purchasing and supply management and, with the highest number of entries to date (220 in total), the competition for this year’s awards is tougher than ever before. The awards ceremony takes place on 8 September 2010, when the winners of the 10 categories will be announced.
