Capita awarded revenues contract extension by Lambeth

06/05/2009

Capita Local Government Services has signed an agreement with Lambeth Borough Council to extend its revenues contract. Valued at £8.2 million over two years, the extended agreement will run until 2011, which is 14 years from the initial contract start date in 1997.

The contract will continue to encompass the collection and administration of council tax and business rates. These services will be driven by innovative, effective technology and processes, enabling Lambeth Borough Council to continue to offer an efficient service.

In less than 10 years the collection rate of council tax has risen from 78.6 per cent to 94.2 per cent, with an increase in the number of direct debit payers, from under 15,000 to almost 50,000 in the same period.

Ryan Reino, revenues manager at Lambeth Borough Council, commented: “The contract extension has been awarded due to the consistently high levels of service and results delivered by Capita. These successes are even more significant as they have been achieved during a time of major modernisation of our IT infrastructure.”

Mark Chapman, director of Capita Local Government Services, commented: “The Council already has an impressive track record in customer services for revenue and benefits and we will continue to work with them to provide its citizens with a top quality service. This agreement demonstrates the Council’s commitment to minimising costs whilst maintaining excellent service delivery.”
