Westward Housing Group awards Capita with care and support contract

Westward, a housing group in the South West, has selected Capita's software services business to deliver its supported housing services case management system across Devon and Cornwall.

Westward, an existing customer of Capita OPENHousing, provides affordable housing and services to 7,000 households in the region through its two housing associations Westcountry Housing and Tarka Housing. Westward's supported housing services provide support to 2,000 clients and the seven year contract with Capita will provide improved monitoring and reporting processes across all Westward's support services.

Martin Oxley, Westward's supported housing director, said: "Our aim is to create great homes and neighbourhoods where people want to live and work. In order to do this, we need the right tools for the job and Capita's software will help establish a truly streamlined and flexible system, with the whole customer journey being captured electronically."

Capita will work closely with Westward to provide a 'gateway' operation, enabling the group to manage a new service on behalf of Torbay Council, whereby all housing and support referral and assessment information will be accessed through one channel. The time taken to perform administrative tasks, not only by Westward but also by partner organisations, will be reduced. This gives Westward a competitive advantage as all paper-based forms will be converted to electronic format for direct input into a comprehensive web-based system. This will benefit hundreds of users by increasing the efficiency of Westward's housing support services and allowing staff to have instant access to detailed client records online.
