Capita's mobile working briefing sessions: programme

Bringing the benefits of mobile working to life

Mobile freedom - see the benefits today, book your place

The public sector austerity measures are impacting upon us all; workers, entire orgnaisations and citizens. However, with the right investment in robust mobile technologies to complement your staff's working practices, you can save money, time and resources as well as improving the services delivered to your citizens and communities.

Capita's mobile working briefing sessions* will deliver insight on best practice in mobile working and facilitate discussions featuring leading experts in the field. Delegates will leave equipped with tangible examples of how best to adopt enterprise-wide mobile working practices and have the background to be able to build a comprehensive business case for implementing mobile working systems at your local authority.

    About the sessions and speakers

    Siobhan Donnelly
Health and safety lawyer, BA Hons, CALS, CMIOSH, SIIRSM

Legal specialist in Health and Safety, Siobhan Donnelly is unique in her field and is the only practicing lawyer in the UK and Ireland with a sole focus on Health and Safety in the workplace. Siobhan Donnelly qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and worked in defence litigation.

In 1996 Siobhan became Senior Partner when she formed Donnelly Kinder Solicitors. At this time she also formed SRT Donnelly & Associates, providing specialist legal advice in Health and Safety.

In 2007 Siobhan left the partnership, to devote all her time to the first legal safety specialist company in the UK and Ireland. Siobhan saw the need for Directors and Senior Teams to receive legal advice at a very early stage, before the accident or incident occurred and ideally when companies were creating or reviewing their safety systems. She wanted to protect directors from dealing with serious accidents or at the very least advise them in the aftermath of serious incidents or fatalities.

Siobhan's interactive workshop titled "Risk and Liability of Lone Workers from a Legal Prospective" will cover:

    • Necessary pre-assessment
    • Ongoing amendments and near miss response
    • Design and integrity of safe lone working systems
    • Creation of a defense and worker protection
    • Implications of unlimited fines.

    Gregg Hardie,
Head of UK public sector, Research In Motion

Gregg Hardie is responsible for leading the UK public sector sales team at Research In Motion.  In his role, Gregg focuses on building strategic relationships with customers to enable them to maximise their investment in BlackBerry through the deployment of applications that enable organisations to be more efficient and effective in the way they serve the public.  Gregg Hardie has over 13 years of experience in the public sector and has previously worked with McAfee, BeCrypt and Aladdin.

    Gregg's session synopsis:
The BlackBerry® platform enables local government organisations to equip field workers with access to information at the point of need. Mobile workers, such as social care workers, are able to securely access customer information from databases to enable them to make more informed decisions, remove the need to type up paperwork and, ultimately, spend more time with the citizens they serve. This results in a more effective and efficient service being provided.

Gregg will discuss how local government organisations, such as yours, can benefit from mobile technology, the applications that can be mobilised and discuss case study examples to show the compelling business case for the investment in mobile technology.
