Faced with a savings target of £500,000 per year on their housing service costs, East Riding of Yorkshire Council approached Capita for support in improving its operational efficiency.
With 100 operatives carrying out 300 repair jobs per day, East Riding's partnership with Capita focused on agile and mobile working being introduced across its repairs teams, alongside improved scheduling for work undertaken.
By mobilising its repairs workforce, establishing efficient scheduling of work to each officer and achieving automatic updating of back-office systems via users' mobile devices, the council has been able to focus on meeting staff and customer needs and achieving huge annual cost savings.
