Transforming procurement services and enabling cashable savings.
The objective set for Capita was to release £33 million in cashable savings, over the lifetime of the 10-year contract, to Southampton and to transform the Council’s existing procurement service into a modern,highly-skilled, agile and effi cient operation.
Capita has strengthened the Council’s procurement function by introducing additional resources and expertise, and by providing innovative and improved processes and practices enabling the delivery of an enhanced procurement service with robust capabilities that support the Council’s needs.
In addition to achieving £17 million of its savings target within the fi rst three years, the procurement function has also undergone signifi cant transformation, moving from a reactive unit with little client engagement to a strategic and high-performing professional operation that works collaboratively with Council Directorates as an effective and
integrated business partner.
